AGENTS OF CHANGE FOR URBAN YOUTH

At the Sutton Heritage Foundation, we realize that the biggest hurdle that youth-serving organizations face today is a lack of funding. We desire to be a source of financial support, connection, and knowledge that would empower the organizations that work with urban youth in the Twin Cities to fulfill their mission.

WHAT MAKES US DIFFERENT

The mission of the Sutton Heritage Foundation is to provide financial support and resources to educational institutions, ministries, and grass-root organizations dedicated to providing opportunities for, and empowering, urban youth.

We seek to bring this mission to life by establishing relationships with individuals and organizations that are doing the work, grantmaking, and providing educational scholarship opportunities for student leaders.

HOW WE HELP

We have identified three major areas of struggle for the organizations we aim to serve. The Sutton Heritage Foundation focuses on finding solutions through…

FUNDING

We provide financial support to urban ministries & grassroots organizations dedicated to bringing change.

EXPOSURE

RESOURCES

We cultivate change through educational scholarships & community-based organization support.

Transforming followers into leaders, and leaders into agents of change
— Dr. Myles Munroe

JOSEPH SUTTON, FOUNDER

Joseph C. Sutton always had a deep passion for working with youth. After giving his life to the Lord in 1983, he served as a youth leader, a mentor, a track and field coach, and a Senior Pastor. He always found a way to get involved in the community. He knew the youth were our future. He wanted that future to be filled with individuals who were confident and equipped to walk in their gifts and purpose. Pastor Joe knew that he could not accomplish this work alone and saw the value in connections with like-minded individuals. After realizing that funding is always lacking, he began planning the creation of the Sutton Heritage Foundation. Pastor Joe desired the foundation to be a source of financial support, connection, and knowledge that would encourage organizations to continue doing the work they felt called to do. Before his passing on March 1st, 2021, the Sutton Heritage Foundation was well on its way from vision to reality. He is greatly missed, and we are honored to be able to continue the work that he set off to accomplish.

A LITTLE NOTE

The Sutton Family

JONATHAN SUTTON, EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

I cannot even begin to describe the impact that my father had on my life and the lives of so many others. His presence, humor, wisdom, and desire for all to know their purpose and God’s love for them will be greatly missed. But even in this season of grief, it has been amazing to see my father’s legacy continue in so many ways. I have been honored to carry on his legacy of giving and investing in future generations through the Sutton Heritage Foundation. As of July 2021, the foundation is officially a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization. While this is an exciting step for us, we know that in order to become an organization that gives; we must have a financial foundation from which to give. My family and I know how crucial this work is and how urgently some of these organizations could use financial assistance. We want to establish a foundation that allows us to grow and give more in the years to come. Will you join us?
